My work flow this particular set:
Outline, solder pads, holes and vias from the DXF the PurpleArms provided me, else improvised by me and capiler -> AutoCad 2011 -> Mental Ray -> Photoshop CS5
The subject of this render set is my favorite lil wonder, Micheal "PurpleArms" Cheng's "Arc-Eyes" 1.2 mini PCB. This tiny modern marvel is a circuit board that is designed to fit into Seimitsu PS-14-KN arcade push buttons. The Arc-Eyes add the ability to illuminate the buttons from the inside out via dual RGB leds either directly connected to a power source or to a dedicated RGB led controller, such as 32Teeth's "Sparky Jr. PWM Edition" featured in some of my other sets. Usually grouped together in sets of 6,8 or more, these lil boards have added much creative flare to many custom arcade sticks out in the wild. The Arc-Eyes revolutionized the way custom arcade sticks are illuminated, and since it release to the public it these boards have been wildly acclaimed and has even spawned a few clones. Things are getting ready to evolve all over again, with the impending release of Arc-Eyes Mark II. I seriously hate to make it sound like an advertisement, but the Arc-Eyes, more specifically the bigger project they were part of, "Project Gouken" was one of the biggest creative inspirations I've ever had, and it even has indirectly led me to learn AutoDesk's AutoCAD giving me the ability to do all these pretty render sets. Also this hobby still in its relative infancy and its very niche, so some more explanation is required. That's the tip of the iceberg really....

The model used here plays a small part in a big project I am currently working on. Project "Nytemare" is a highly customized, ambitious and stylish Street Fighter type custom arcade stick. Any true competitor in the sport of fighting games knows that to build one's own custom arcade stick, is to complete one's right of passage. That said, modeling to exact precision all the parts used will help me design everything and prototype ideas with realistic results. Documenting the entire process will help me share this easily for others who would like to embark on a similar right of passage. These pretty renders are byproduct of the process, as will be the custom stick configuration editor I make with the mass of completed assets
